Frequently asked questions.
What should I bring?
Don’t forget your camera, phone, or video equipment to capture the fun and stunning beauty of Sitka, Alaska! Wildlife sightings abound, including whales, eagles, sea otters, puffins, sea lions, and a variety of seabirds. You might even spot brown bears or deer along the island shores.
If you’re planning to bring home fish boxes (check out our recipes page!), we recommend packing light with just one carry-on per person. This allows you to check your fish box on the plane at no additional charge. Layered clothing is also a must so you can stay comfortable in Sitka’s ever-changing weather.
Do we need a float plane or shuttle boat to get to your location?
No floatplanes are needed to reach Sitka! When you book your trip with Alaskan Endeavor Charters, you’ll enjoy the convenience of direct flights. Alaska Airlines and Delta Airlines (summer only) offer daily service to Sitka from Seattle, making it one of the most accessible fishing destinations in Alaska. Unlike remote fishing lodges that require additional travel, Sitka offers unparalleled ease—most hotels are just minutes from the docks. That means you’ll spend less time traveling and more time doing what you came for: fishing the incredible waters of Sitka!
How much time fishing do we get each day??
At Alaskan Endeavor Charters, we prioritize giving you a full day of fishing (8-10 hours) tailored to your goals—targeting the species you’re eager to catch. To make your experience seamless, every fish you catch will be expertly processed, portioned, flash-frozen, and packed in airline-approved wet-lock boxes. Your catch will be ready for your scheduled departure, allowing you to take it home as checked baggage and save on expensive shipping costs.
What type of fishing equipment do we need to bring?
The F/V Alaskan Endeavor is a 32-foot Almar Sounder walkaround vessel, designed for comfort and performance. With ample space for our favorite salmon fishing technique—mooching—plus a roomy aft deck for trolling or soaking bait on anchor, this boat ensures an exceptional fishing experience. Guests love the heated, enclosed cabin and spacious fishing areas. Powered by twin Yamaha 250-hp four-stroke engines and outfitted with state-of-the-art electronics and safety equipment, the vessel is built for both safety and success.
At Alaskan Endeavor Charters, we take pride in using top-quality, technique-specific gear for every fishery. For mooching salmon, we rely on G•Loomis 1084 EX-6 Salmon/Steelhead Mooching rods paired with Shimano Tekota reels. Halibut anglers will appreciate our custom rods matched with Accurate Reels and Daiwa Tanacom 1000 electric reels, perfect for tackling those massive flatfish. Every detail is designed to deliver an exceptional Sitka fishing adventure.

Afterward, it’s taken to a professional processing facility equipped with commercial-grade vacuum sealers, stainless steel fillet tables, and a walk-in blast freezer. The fish is filleted, portioned according to your preferences, rinsed with fresh water, and sealed in durable 4-mil vacuum bags. Testimonials
Captain Olan was a blast to fish with! My parents and I had never caught a king salmon before this trip to Alaska. However, not only did we all catch one- but we caught the full limit of salmon (and halibut, rockfish, ling and cod) day after day. Captain Olan was safe, fun, incredibly knowledgeable and a great teacher. We will be back next year. Five stars (and I wish there were six so I could give Olan one more for all the wildlife we learned about as we fished)!
